In good old days these massive celebrations are Called As” Jatra” .. They are basically the annual fairs held for Local Deity. These huge Gatherings were also an opportunity for the small as well as big traders to do the business.
One such Ancient traditional fair is “Mhasa Fair” is also one of the Biggest Bullocks Trading Fair. It is held on Paush ( Marathi calender) Purnima (Full Moon) i.e. in the month of January every Year. The tradition of Mhasa Yatra is more than 200 years old. The presiding diety is Khamblingeshwar ( Lord Shankar ). Devotees come in thousands to offer prayers at the Mandir and from different part of Maharashtra . It’s a 1.5 to 2 kms spread of more than thousands of devotees visiting.
The location of the Yatra is on the Ancent Trade route of Bhimashankar – Junnar Via Bail Ghat or Darya Ghat . This Ancient annual fair is Held in Mhasa Village. This regins encompassing the hills of Meena Maval and Kukad Maval. Some stories and Legends are associated with the region. It will be Fun if you could talk to the locals around here. You can locate some oldest forts like Siddhagad, Gorakhgad nearby this village.
The purpose of the fair was of Interest to me and my friends to Visit the Place….. Huge … Huge variety of Bullocks breeds like Gir, Sahiwal, Khillari etc. Some used for Farming; some are for Purpose of Racing ;some only for Pulling Carts . . Oh… and some of those of Red Sindhi breed were So Masculine and Handsome .
For me this fair was a literal meaning of Phrase “ Joy of Small Things”. ... So many tiny-miny Stalls.. Selling almost everything...Simple things that you and me need to live ... No .. No Fast-food No Luxury No Ac …No Nonsense.... exactly what is needed to live. You get everything Food , Tools , Households, groceries, Pots pans Blankets and many other items . These flea markets like stalls are run by Women .... They are smart...very professional.. the price of the product depends on the Customer .. Yet very friendly and yes ..Happy Models if you are clicking pictures … I Loved their enthusiasm .

thousand who are regular for this fair... Most of the people living near
Mumbai, kalyan Thane and surrounding places pay Visit here. Traders Not only
from Entire Maharashtra but from MP, Chattisgarrh and few other states also do
Trade here... It's Rustic Thats whay it is Fun... Its not far ... Some 80-90
KM... But it's a Different world altogether.... Please do not Visit this Place
